The delicate, feminine filly closed her eyes for a moment. Sunlight streamed through the trees that loomed above her, and the light dappled on her coat as it filtered through the thick foliage. It felt good, and the filly was tired. The journey from the old island to this one had been extremely hard on the barely-a-year-old girl, but she'd done it. She felt like she'd never be fully rested again, though she did like their new home. Her memories of the fire were still foggy, but the cottage that was her daddy's helped. All the flowers made her smile, and her father told her stories about her grandfather, and how he had lived in a cottage much like the one they did.
She opened her eyes slowly, her face still childish though now that she was two she was beginning to lengthen out a bit. Her fluffy foal's hair was getting a bit of the length and curl it would eventually have, and you could tell she was going to be beautiful. At least, that's what her daddy said, and she laughed and denied it every time. He insisted it was true, but she wasn't sure she believed him. She smiled, her soft velvet lips creasing in the motion, the teal marking that was an exact replica of her father's moving as well.
She was the Loner heir, and this was a rare moment of quiet from her duties. Her father insisted that she learn as he had, how to interact with the alliance. His father had taught him how to rule an alliance, and now he was teaching her. She liked the idea of being Queen, but it had occurred to her that if she was Queen, her father wouldn't be King any more.

Princess Theia. It was a calling she could get used to. The idea of potentially being the Queen of her father's alliance one day was both exciting and frighting. Theia could feel it in her bones. How they quivered at the very thought. How they ached in anticipation. It was the idea of it all that would take her some time to get used to.
You had four years to get used to the idea, she scolded herself for having indulged in childish games for four years. Four years, wasted. How could she have been so foolish? Well, she hadn't known how much of a successor her father was. Now she did and things were going to change. She was going to change, and her relationship with her father would most certainly change, too. The young mare smiled. Maybe it wouldn't be anything too hard to grasp.
Theia decided the time to wander this new world had come, and she set out for a day of adventure. She wasn't sure how many others lived here, or what else lived here, but she was going to find out sooner or later. She would have to, if she was going to be a Queen. Theia stopped to smell the crisp air. Lingering on the winter winds, the smell of another horse snagged her senses. It was a younger horse, a filly. She could tell just by the smell, and as she continued on her stroll the smell only got stronger. Eventually, she stopped. The bright teal on the filly's body caught her eye among the pure white scenery. Theia tipped her head to the side curiously. "Hello," she nearly giggled, "What are you doing out here all alone?"

Isolde glanced up at the approach of the other mare, and cocked her head slightly. All of the horses were were new to her, but then again even the horses at her old home were new to her as well.
"Hello!"
She said softly, her sweet little voice friendly and relaxed. She blinked, her long eyelashes rimming her large eyes. She fluffed slightly, a little embarrassed to realize she'd run away without permission for the afternoon. She didn't particularly want to admit it either.
"I'm fine, my daddy lets me play here all the time."
She tried, though she was a terrible liar.
